Editorial Process

At Trends in Medical and Biological Sciences, we are dedicated to a transparent, ethical, and scientifically rigorous editorial process. Every manuscript undergoes careful evaluation to ensure compliance with international research ethics, scientific soundness, and relevance to the fields of medicine and biological sciences. The following workflow describes the path of a manuscript from submission to publication:

1. Manuscript Submission

All manuscripts must be submitted through the official journal submission portal:
???? https://scholarsacademiaworld.com/index.php/TMBS

Submissions must fully comply with the journal’s author guidelines, including formatting, ethical standards, and technical requirements.

2. Initial Screening and Plagiarism Check

The editorial office performs a preliminary screening to verify that the manuscript:

  • Fits within the scope of Trends in Medical and Biological Sciences

  • Meets ethical requirements (e.g., IRB/ethical approval for human/animal studies)

  • Passes plagiarism screening (Turnitin or equivalent)

???? Manuscripts with a similarity index above 10% may be returned for revision or rejected.

3. Assignment to Section Editor

Manuscripts passing the initial checks are assigned to a Section Editor or Associate Editor with subject expertise. The editor evaluates the work for scientific quality, relevance, and originality.

4. Double-Blind Peer Review

Eligible manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review, where both authors’ and reviewers’ identities remain confidential. At least two independent experts evaluate manuscripts based on:

  • Originality and contribution to knowledge

  • Research methodology and design

  • Biological and/or medical significance

  • Data quality, interpretation, and statistical rigor

  • Compliance with ethical standards

5. Reviewer Recommendations

Reviewers submit detailed evaluations and recommend one of the following:

✅ Accept without revisions
✏️ Accept with minor revisions
???? Major revisions required (Revise and resubmit)
❌ Reject

6. Editorial Decision

The Section Editor, in consultation with the Editor-in-Chief when necessary, makes the final decision based on reviewer feedback. Authors receive a formal decision letter, along with anonymized reviewer comments.

7. Author Revisions

Authors must submit revised manuscripts within the given deadline, including a point-by-point response to reviewer feedback. Depending on the changes, revisions may be:

  • Re-evaluated by the original reviewers

  • Reviewed directly by the editorial team

8. Final Acceptance

Once revisions are complete and satisfactory, the manuscript is formally accepted by the editorial board and proceeds to production.

9. Copyediting and Proofreading

Accepted manuscripts undergo professional copyediting to ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy. Authors receive proofs for review before final publication.

10. Online Publication

The finalized article is published in the next scheduled issue of Trends in Medical and Biological Sciences and made available as open access under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).

11. Post-Publication Promotion

To maximize impact, the journal promotes published articles through:

  • Indexing in scientific and academic databases

  • Dissemination across medical and biological research networks

  • Social media and email newsletters

  • Academic collaborations and citation alerts

Authors are encouraged to share their publications widely for greater visibility and impact.
